recycling is central to Ciara's design philosophy

"Recycled metals and gems are a fantastic eco-friendly option, as opposed to newly mined materials that can have devastating effects on the environment. A big (and fun) part of the process is working with our fantastic contacts in the trade, as well as searching for old jewels at markets and boot fairs with so much potential to be given a new lease of life." Ciara

Ciara's jewelry is unique for many reasons: handcarved using the ancient technique of wax casting, playful color combinations, but also because EVERYTHING of hers is made of recycled + reclaimed materials.

Meet the Designer & Maker

CIARA BOWLES: in the London Jewellery District

Ciara's journey towards being a jewellery designer started from a very early age. Making things and understanding how things are made was always a fascination. By the age of 13 she had gathered together a collection of tools and had started making jewellery out of wire, drinks cans and beads. After studying at the Edinburgh College of Art in 2012, she went on to work in the jewellery industry for world renowned jewellery brands and fashion houses - finding her feet in the London Jewellery district of Hatton Garden.

Ciara is a lifelong vegan (!) and grew up in London's East End to hippie parents with a love for nature, surrounded by a multitude of cultures, historical legends and the urban city. Inspired by the patterns that she saw in her native environment and her fascination with ancient jewels, she strives to create intricate fine jewellery that is luxuriously exciting and imbued with a sense of playfulness. Using exciting colour combinations and the ancient technique of wax casting, her jewellery combines the old and the new.
