The Silky SILK FREE Slip Wedding Dress
This effortless satin slip wedding dress is designed for the bride who shines within. She is constructed of luxe gorgeous flowy vegan silk free satin that moves beautifully, with a high slit to give you even more room to move and EAT, but also to add length to your beautiful legs. When you walk you'll give a touch of skin, as the skirt flares out with each step, but overall this floor length beauty with mini train says: MARRY ME.
It can be worn solo - perfect for your wedding in the woods, in the sand, or Central Park. It can also be worn under our Floating gown for extra dreamy layers.
This Vegan Satin Slip Wedding dress was sourced and designed by me (Leanne Mai-ly Hilgart), working with the amazing NYC couturier Mika Inatome to bring it to LIFE.
MAKING YOUR GOWN: Unless noted, your gown will be made JUST FOR YOU. That means it's cut and sewn by a couturier in NYC either made to order (a standard sizing like small, XXL, etc.) or made to measure, to your exact measurements.
- Made to Order: Made to order means we create your dress according to standard size dimensions. This works great if you typically fit into a standard sizing (order your typical street size), or if you live far away and would rather get it tailored in person afterwards. If you do this I recommend budgeting extra time and money to have your local tailor make alterations for a perfect fit after receiving your gown from us.
- Made to Measure: Made to Measure means your dress is made to your exact measurements! This way ideally you will not need to get your dress tailored afterwards, if your measurements don't change much from when we measure you. If you're afar, I will walk you through getting your measurements to send in, or if you're close by, you can come in for two in person fittings in NYC. Party time.
This design is made of vegan satin from 100% post-consumer recycled fibers, and lined in a deadstock cotton fabric for structure and comfort.
- Our silky SILK FREE satin is is created by an award winning Asian female founded textile house in Australia and Asia, with factories that are certified to OEKO-TEX 100 and bluesign (no harmful chemicals in the dye), recycled fibers certified GRS and GOTS, with fabric machines run by skilled engineers paid much higher than traditional textile production wages. Each gown recycles around 20+ plastic bottles in a mechanical process. Why vegan? Traditional silk is made from boiling silkworms alive - in order to capture their silk threads for best quality. Also I just don't believe in wearing another living being's body or home.

Landfill diverted Industrial Deadstock Fabric: When a brand creates a line it usually includes fabric production, but often they must order more than they need as a buffer for production issues. If all of this buffer yardage is not needed then there is very small quantities of excess fabric in these very specific colors and designs which often then take up space in a factory, or end up in a landfill. It's not enough yardage for another brand to do production with, but luckily it's enough for me to make a few gowns in and voila!
CUSTOM COLOR Option: We can also make this gown in a custom color - whether you'd like a custom "nude" perfectly matching your skin, or something totally unique to be worn layered or solo. Email me to discuss some ideas!

ZERO WASTE GOWN DROPS
Is a dream come true! It means I get to create art often, slowly with my hands, using amazing vintage and deadstock materials I find, along with featuring handmade art by artists that inspire me. Making things with my hands, and finding unique things a home create a lot of joy for me.
I also design with comfort in mind, the comfort not only to move, but to feel beautiful doing whatever you want that day - eating, dancing, sitting - running through a field of daisies with your three rescued pups, ya know the usual!

with Japanese Couturier, Mika
Wedding gowns are maybe the most complex type of apparel to build. They must be constructed at the highest quality, and a couturier must be a true problem solver and inventor to be able to translate a vision into reality over a spectrum of designs, cuts, and materials.
After meeting with another couturier, something didn't feel right. I checked my email again to see if Mika had responded and realized I had missed hers.
When we met - with her fervent love for her dogs, her parents, anime covering her walls, and her contagious enthusiasm for problem solving and overwhelming kindness - I knew it would be WAY more fun to work with her on these. We spent almost every day for months working on these designs, and I'm so happy for you to see them incarnated, waiting to find the right person to celebrate with.

From Julia in Kiev supporting her family with her embroidered animals to Jen using the sales of her hand crocheted flowers to make care packages for shut in seniors and homeless individuals - each gown is the result of art I've had the JOY of bringing together by many wonderful people.
