Courthouse Mini: in Lace + Satin (6 can be made)
The Courthouse Mini: in Lace + Satin
(only 6 can be made, or a few more!)
For making your sweet union official at the courthouse, in your backyard, or near some waves -- I designed this little number because it seemed it was missing from the bridal market, something for a less formal celebration that's really beautifully made with wonderful romantic materials- while being chill and cozy. Also perfect for the post ceremony parties, you dancing queens.
MAKING YOUR MINI: Unless noted, your mini will be made JUST FOR YOU. That means it's cut and sewn by a couturier in NYC either made to order (a standard sizing like small, medium, etc.) or made to measure, to your exact measurements.
- Made to Order: Made to order means the fit will be standard sizing, but for this particular style the length we will customize at no extra charge! A mini "length" as I've learned is a very personal decision, some like closer to the bum some more like mid thigh. :) For this measurement: measure from the bottom of your neck to the bottom of the skirt and include it with your order, or email it with your invoice to us within a week of order if you aren't sure yet!
- Made to Measure: Made to Measure means your dress is made to your measurements! I will walk you through getting your measurements to send in from afar, or if you're close by, you can come in for two in person fittings in NYC.
This design is made of BEAUTIFUL special deadstock fabrics.
Landfill diverted Industrial Deadstock Fabric:
- The lace is pretty gorgeous- very beautifully made cotton lace that, layered over the thick satin deadstock, creates a gorgeous structure of beautiful fabrics.
What is deadstock fabric? When a brand creates a line it usually includes fabric production, but often they must order more than they need as a buffer for production issues. If all of this buffer yardage is not needed then there is very small quantities of excess fabric in these very specific colors and designs which often then take up space in a factory, or end up in a landfill. It's not enough yardage for another brand to do production with, but luckily it's enough for me to make a few gowns in and voila! Here are the limited run colors then this comes in. This means though that I cannot make this design in exactly this fabric ever again.
ZERO WASTE GOWN DROPS
Is a dream come true! It means I get to create art often, slowly with my hands, using amazing vintage and deadstock materials I find, along with featuring handmade art by artists that inspire me. Making things with my hands, and finding unique things a home create a lot of joy for me.
I also design with comfort in mind, the comfort not only to move, but to feel beautiful doing whatever you want that day - eating, dancing, sitting - running through a field of daisies with your three rescued pups, ya know the usual!

with Japanese Couturier, Mika
Wedding gowns are maybe the most complex type of apparel to build. They must be constructed at the highest quality, and a couturier must be a true problem solver and inventor to be able to translate a vision into reality over a spectrum of designs, cuts, and materials.
After meeting with another couturier, something didn't feel right. I checked my email again to see if Mika had responded and realized I had missed hers.
When we met - with her fervent love for her dogs, her parents, anime covering her walls, and her contagious enthusiasm for problem solving and overwhelming kindness - I knew it would be WAY more fun to work with her on these. We spent almost every day for months working on these designs, and I'm so happy for you to see them incarnated, waiting to find the right person to celebrate with.

From Julia in Kiev supporting her family with her embroidered animals to Jen using the sales of her hand crocheted flowers to make care packages for shut in seniors and homeless individuals - each gown is the result of art I've had the JOY of bringing together by many wonderful people.
